Humane Society of Broward County

Walk for the Animals

Wow is the only way I can describe this great experience.  The 17^th annual Walk for the Animals, benefiting the Humane Society of Broward County, was my best fundraising year ever.  Thanks to my generous sponsors, we raised over $1,000 in Liesel’s memory.  Although it was a record breaking hot day, an estimated 4,500 people and more than 3,000 dogs joined me walking for this great cause.  Speaking of records, this year’s event raised over $500,000.  The most raised by a single event for the HSBC!  We were treated to appearances by the Humane Society dog mascot and Sebastian, the UM Ibis, and the usual pancake breakfast provided by IHOP.   My new pack, Pet Therapy Companions raised over $25,000!

Breaking The Chain

The Humane Society of Broward County is trying to end the suffering of dogs forced to live on chains in our community.  Dogs are social animals and need to live close to their families.  The isolation is terribly stressful and causes many behavioral problems such as aggression.  Furthermore, dogs forced to live outside are typically malnourished, full of parasites, and filthy.  Click here to see what you can do to help introduce legislation to outlaw this blatant cruelty.
