Dawn Hanna, CPDT
Top Dog

Dawn has been training dogs for over 15 years.  She has successfully trained many breeds of dogs ranging from teacup breeds to Great Danes.  In 2004, Dawn sharpened her training skills by attending a four week dog training program at Tarheel Canine Training in North Carolina.  Well versed in behavioral issues, Dawn has implemented programs to treat reactivity, aggression, shyness, and hyperactivity in dogs.

Dawn is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and is a Certified Pet Dog Trainer.  She regularly attends APDT conferences to keep up with the latest in positive training methods.  The Certified Professional Dog Trainer program is an internationally recognized certification program for professional dog trainers. A dog trainer that has passed the certification exam has demonstrated knowledge of instruction skills, animal husbandry, ethology, learning theory, and equipment. CPDTs are bound by a code of ethics. The continuing education requirement ensures that CPDT’s are informed about the most current thinking, research and techniques in the field.

Dawn’s private training offers owners individual attention on their schedule.  She also offers private training for behavior issues that are not compatible with a class setting.  Dawn’s curriculum for group classes includes fun, learning and socialization.  She offers group classes for dogs over 5 months old as well as a puppy kindergarten course.  Dawn enjoys volunteering at pet friendly events, low cost vaccination clinics, and supports the Humane Society of Broward County by participating in the Walk for the Animals every year.

Liesel Von Trapp III
Dog/Puppy Socialization Specialist

1992-2006

On June 20, I said goodbye to my best friend, Liesel Von Trapp.  She was 14 years old when I made the decision that her deteriorating joints and spinal issues had finally become too painful for her.  She joins her sister Ginger at the rainbow bridge along with other close dog friends we have lost over the years.  I would like to thank all of you for the kind words and concerned calls I have received since then.  It is so comforting to know that she was loved and will be missed by our friends…dog and human.  So many of you have been so generous over her life to extend invitations to Liesel and me into your homes.  She forever changed my life by loving me every day unconditionally.

A well trained and socialized German Shepherd, Liesel helped me build this business by helping other dogs. She taught other dogs how to behave in a family environment and what is acceptable play. She served as a good role model for dogs that have not previously been socialized and puppies that have been taken from their litter early.

Liesel will always be in my heart.

Maddie
Official Patience and Consistency Tester

In 2006, I adopted Maddie from German Shepherd Rescue.  Maddie is a "special" dog and since then, she has been on a journey to trust unfamiliar humans and dogs and better behavior.  Like many of my clients' dogs, she is sweet and loving at home, but a handful out in public or with house guests.  She reminds me that although it's not easy being patient and consistent, patience and consistency really works.
